Rodrigo Cruz is an independent photographer who collaborates with some non governmental organizations in Mexico. Rodrigo won the 1st prize in the “Migration” category of the 14th Latin-American Contest of Documentary Photography 2008; he won in Mexico the 1st place in the International Photography Contest on Indigenous People Human Rights summoned by Human Rights National Commission 2007; the 1st place in the Photography National Contest Cuatroscuro 2007 about Migration; and the 1st place in the news category of National Geographic - Latin America contest “Luces de America” 2006.
He received a grant from the Program of Formation of Photo-Essays 2007-2008 summoned by the Regional Fund for the Cultural and Arts of the Central Zone and National Council for the Culture and Arts, Mexico His work was selected for the exhibition in the 2nd Biennale of Photojournalism, Culture and Shows- Ibero America in 2007. His pictures have been published in Enjeux Internationaux, The Chronicle of the Higher Education, Calgary Herald, Cochrane Eagle, Earth First!, Ther Radical Environmental Journal, Cuba Nuestra, International Amnesty section Mexico, El MaƱana de Torreon, Mexico Desconocido, Voces del Desarrollo and El Sur de Acapulco.
Also, he has made video documentaries on indigenous issues, which was shown in festivals such as Finger LAkes Environmental Film Festival in 2007 (ithaca, US); Voices from the Waters in 2007 (Bangalore, India); VIII International Festival of the Indigenous People in 2006; IV Hispano- American Meeting of Documentary Independent Video in 2006; VIII Indigenous Film and Video Festival by Smithsonian National American Indian Museum in 2006 (New York).
